We routinely perform this procedure on all thyroid and parathyroid patients to help guide our decision making.
Many times patients come in with an ultrasound already performed. While this is useful it is not uncommon to find discrepancies in the reports from those scans and our findings. Many times this is because the radiologist is not the person actually performing the scan. Further, surgeon performed ultrasound has resulted in better surgical planning and outcomes in almost every study conducted.
